Joos are proud to be working in partnership with the Night Time Industry Association (NTIA).
The NTIA is the voice for the sector and works to increase awareness and understanding of its contribution to the Night Time Economy (NTE). It seeks to influence the decisions of policymakers and ensure that the night-time economy continues to flourish, supporting regeneration, creating jobs and enhancing the UK’s international reputation.
Nigh-time leisure and compromised safety have long been synonymous with one another. Over the past few years, there has been a wave of media attention drawn towards this issue, predominately in the form of campaigns against sexual harassment and violence against women. Here at Joos, we believe the culture around night-time safety needs to change.
Our first venture into promoting this change happened in 2020. Partnering with YouGov, Joos carried out a nationally representative survey to understand how Brits feel when out at night with a dying phone. Our initial dataset measured responses to questions based on people’s experiences from March 2019 – March 2020, just before the Covid-19 pandemic arrived in the UK.
Our survey echoed the sentiments of the aforementioned national campaigns, with key statistics emerging, such as:
64% of females feel either scared or anxious when their phone battery is dying, whilst out at night-time.
Shockingly, 44% of young women also said they’d feel unsafe when alone with a dying phone at night, even when in a familiar place.

Joos obtained these stats as part of a nationally representative survey with YouGov to understand how Brits feel when out at night with a dying phone (based on data from March 2019 – March 2020). The results highlight the necessity of phone charging facilities across night-time venues within the UK – and Joos is proud to be working in partnership with the Night Time Industry Association (NTIA) to make this a reality.
The NTIA is the voice for the night-time sector and works to increase awareness and understanding of its contribution to the Night Time Economy (NTE) – seeking to influence the decisions of policymakers whilst supporting regeneration, creating jobs, and enhancing the UK’s international reputation.
Joos is delighted to partner with the NTIA on a variety of schemes – all of which are designed to help the organisation meet these aims and targets.
Extra safety at no extra cost
The onus is on bars and clubs within the NTE to ensure their customers are kept safe and connected. That’s why Joos power banks are completely free for all venues up and down the UK.
Every single Joos phone charging station is fully maintained by our team – meaning night-time venues can integrate an invaluable safety feature at no extra cost.
This way, revellers can feel comfortable from the moment they walk into a venue and back through their own front door hours later.
Keeping everyone connected on the move
As Joos continues to deliver mobile phone charging stations to bars, pubs, and clubs across the country, our team has identified key transport hubs as the next strategic step.
Joos recently partnered with Network Rail to provide portable battery chargers in London Bridge train station – meaning passengers travelling through one of Britain’s busiest transport hubs have permanent access to a battery pack at any time.
Public transport is a popular method of transportation following a night out, and it’s important that people using these services stay connected to keep in touch with friends or families during late commutes, as well as paying for tickets.

Conversations with key people
Multiple police constabularies have reached out to Joos showing a keen interest in our charging solutions – describing portable charging station facilities as essential tools in the mission to improve safety within the NTE.
Joos is now working closely alongside various organisations affiliated with the UK’s public sector workers, hospitals, and constabularies – continually exploring new ways to protect people in the night-time community. The evidence suggests there is a long way to go before safety is no longer a question on a night out, but one thing is for certain: The need for 24/7 charging solutions has never been more apparent.
With our mobile phone charging stations, Joos making this happen.
